AREL ACADEMIC OPEN ACCESS SYSTEM HAS BEEN ACCESSED FROM 147 COUNTRIES.

The rapidly rising costs of accessing the produced information, the transfer of scientific communication to large platforms, the need for increased research impact and protection of digital heritage have paved the way for the reasons for the emergence of open access. Liberation of scientific knowledge by removing financial and legal barriers, providing a “fair use” right, its effect on the increase in citation rates (50-300%) and enabling researchers to look at the literature from a wider perspective are among the main reasons why open access is preferred.

The “AREL ACADEMIC OPEN ACCESS SYSTEM” was established by the Library and Documentation Department in order to archive the scientific studies produced by the academic staff of Istanbul Arel University at international standards and make them available to world researchers.

As can be seen from the data obtained, the visibility of academic studies produced by our university academics has increased through the system established by our Library and Documentation Department. As a result of this increase, the citation rates will certainly increase. While the study mediates the development and sharing of teaching materials, it also facilitates the management of research activities.
