Department Achievements

The Merkutech team, consisting of students from Arel University’s Computer Engineering Department, has successfully qualified for the finals in the “Technology for the Benefit of Humanity” category within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2025.

Featured on TRT1 News with their project, our team has taken an important step forward with a vision of putting technology at the service of humanity.

The Psikoİz Team, which includes our department chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazife Çevik, achieved first place in the Technological Applications in Psychology competition, bringing us great pride.

Three research projects prepared by our department’s students have been accepted for support within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program. This achievement reflects our students’ interest in scientific research and their strong project development skills. The projects developed within our university and approved for support are presented below:

Our team earned the title of Champions League Winner in the TEKNOFEST Champions League, the world’s most prestigious league, where over 170 teams that ranked in the TEKNOFEST 2024 competitions competed in a series of challenging tasks and missions. With their outstanding performance and success, our team deservedly claimed the grand prize!

At TEKNOFEST TRNC 2025, held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Istanbul Arel University achieved significant success in two different categories. Out of more than 47,000 participants from 22 countries, the MCT Sensor Merkutech Team secured 2nd place in the Tourism Technologies category, while the EmpowerX Team achieved 2nd place in the Social Innovation category.

The MERKUTECH student team, which includes students from our department, became the champion in the University category of the “10th Innovation Competition”, organized by Başakşehir Living Lab and Başakşehir Municipality, and supported by Vakıf Katılım.
