Prof. Dr. Ergül Berber

Prof. Dr. Ergül Berber completed her undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Boğaziçi University. After completing her PhD, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University in Canada. Since 2010, she has been serving as the Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Istanbul Arel University. Appointed as a Professor in 2016, Prof. Dr. Ergül Berber has held various administrative positions in addition to her role as Department Chair, including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Vice Rector.
Prof. Dr. Ergül Berber has served on various boards and commissions and has taken part in scientific research projects as a principal investigator, advisor, and researcher. She has scientific publications indexed in SCI and has participated in national and international congresses. She has also received awards at national and international conferences.

Prof. Dr. Ali GÜNGÖR
Vice Rector
Prof. Dr. Ali Güngör received his undergraduate education in Physics-Mathematics at the Faculty of Science of Ege University. He also completed pedagogical training at the İzmir Higher Teacher Training School, earning a teaching diploma. He worked as a teacher for two years at the Tunceli Teacher Training School and subsequently served as a physics assistant at the Faculty of Basic Sciences of Karadeniz Technical University.
During his tenure as a physics assistant, Prof. Dr. Ali Güngör was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of National Education for overseas education, which enabled him to pursue doctoral studies in the United States. After completing one year of language education at Georgetown University, he continued his master’s studies in the Department of Physics at the University of Maryland, College Park. Following his master’s degree, he returned to Turkey to complete his short-term military service and then went back to the University of Maryland, where he earned his PhD at the end of 1981 with his dissertation entitled “Far Infrared Magneto-Optical Studies of Narrow Gap Semiconductors: Lead Telluride.”
After completing his doctorate, Prof. Dr. Güngör began an academic position at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Maryland. In August 1982, he returned to Turkey and was appointed to the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Uludağ University. During his tenure at Uludağ University, he continued his research at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland for three months each summer over a period of sixteen years.
In addition to his academic work, he has held numerous administrative positions and published scientific articles in SCI-indexed journals. After retiring in 1998, he began working at foundation universities, where he undertook significant responsibilities in administrative and academic units and in relations with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). He currently continues his academic career at Istanbul Arel University.

Prof. Dr. Nurdan ÇOLAKOĞLU
Vice Rector
Prof. Dr. Nurdan Çolakoğlu completed her undergraduate education in the Department of Mathematics at Mimar Sinan University and her master’s and doctoral studies in the Department of Quantitative Methods at the Institute of Social Sciences of Istanbul University. She received the title of Associate Professor in the field of Quantitative Decision Methods and has been serving as a faculty member at Istanbul Arel University since 2011.
Between 2011 and 2021, she held several administrative positions at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Istanbul Arel University, including Vice Dean, Head of the Department of Business Administration, Deputy Director of the Institute of Social Sciences, and Head of the Business Administration Division. Since 2021, she has been serving as the Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering and the Head of the Engineering Management Division in the Faculty of Engineering.
At the undergraduate and graduate levels, she teaches courses such as Operations Research, Statistics, Advanced Statistics, Research Methods, Advanced Research Methods, and Applied Data Analysis. Prof. Dr. Nurdan Çolakoğlu also serves as a Statistics Editor for various scientific journals. She has published articles in her field and has authored and edited books and book chapters.
