Application Conditions

GRADUATE EDUCATION INSTITUTE
Students will be admitted to the Master’s Degree and Doctoral Programs of the Postgraduate Education Institute of our university for the 2024 – 2025 academic year Fall Term. Applications and registration for postgraduate programs will be made between 10 June 2024- 27 September 2024.

Master's Degree Programs

  • Having a bachelor’s degree and at least 55 points from ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) according to the type of program in master’s programs providing education in Turkish,

 

  • In master’s programs that provide education in a foreign language, it is necessary to have a bachelor’s degree and at least 55 points from ALES according to the type of program, and also to have at least 55 points or an equivalent score from the central foreign language exams accepted by the Higher Education Council and the international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted.

 

  • Having a bachelor’s degree in non-thesis master’s programs,

 

  • ALES score is not required for graduates of non-thesis master’s programs and master’s degree programs related to the majors of the Conservatory and Fine Arts Faculties and for graduates of specialties in medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and pharmacy.

 

  • In the case that the number of prospective students exceeds the program quota, a commission consisting of at least three main and two substitute faculty members is established by the Institute Administrative Board with the recommendation of the head of the department to evaluate the prospective students. The Commission evaluates the candidates by taking into consideration the graduation grade of the undergraduate diploma used by the candidate in the application, the ALES score, the result of the scientific evaluation (interview or written exam or evaluation of the application file) and the foreign language exam score, if any. In the evaluation, the ALES score is weighted 50%, the scientific evaluation exam is weighted 25%, the undergraduate graduation grade is weighted 15%, and the foreign language exam score is 10%. In cases where the ALES score is not required, the weight of the written and/or oral scientific evaluation exam is taken into account as 75%. If the number of prospective students does not exceed the determined quota, an evaluation is made by the Head of the Departments taking into account the ALES score.

 

  • Applicants who have not previously been dismissed from any undergraduate or postgraduate program due to disciplinary action may apply.

Doctoral Programs

  • To enroll in doctoral programs, you must have at least 55 points from ALES according to the master’s diploma with thesis and program type,

 

  • At least 55 points or an equivalent score must be obtained from the central foreign language exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education and the international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted.

 

  • Except for the faculties of medicine, dentistry, veterinary, pharmacy and preparatory classes, those who have a bachelor’s degree of at least ten semesters or specialty authority gained in a laboratory branch according to the principles determined in the relevant legislation can also apply for a doctorate within the scope of the above conditions.

 

  • In the case that the number of prospective students exceeds the program quota, a commission consisting of at least three main and two substitute faculty members is established by the Institute Administrative Board with the recommendation of the head of the department to evaluate the prospective students. The Commission evaluates the candidates by taking into consideration the graduation grade of the master’s degree diploma used by the candidate in the application, the result of the scientific evaluation exam (interview or written exam or evaluation of the application file), the foreign language exam score and, if necessary, the ALES score. In this context, the ALES score is weighted 50%, the scientific evaluation exam (interview or written exam or evaluation of the application file) is weighted 20%, the undergraduate graduation grade is weighted 15%, and the foreign language exam score is 15%. In cases where ALES score is not required, scientific evaluation exam (interview or written exam or evaluation of the application file) is taken into account as 50%, graduation grade is 30%, foreign language exam score is 20%. Considering the ALES score, an evaluation is made by the departments.
  • Applicants to the doctoral program with a bachelor’s degree must have an undergraduate graduation grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 or an equivalent score and have an ALES score of at least 80 in the type of score of the program they apply to from ALES.

 

  • Students who enrolled or graduated from non-thesis master’s programs before 6/2/2013 can apply to doctoral programs.

 

  • Applicants who have not previously been dismissed from any undergraduate or graduate program due to disciplinary action may apply.

 

  • Except for the preparatory classes, those who receive undergraduate education for ten semesters are deemed to have a master’s degree.

Proficiency in Arts Programs

  • Candidates who apply to the proficiency in art program with a master’s degree from a program equivalent to fine arts faculties and conservatory programs are required to have at least 55 points or an equivalent score from one of the central foreign language exams accepted by YDS (Foreign Language Exam) or the Council of Higher Education or one of the international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted. Other candidates must also have a minimum ALES score of 55 in the verbal score type.

 

  • In applications for conservatory programs and programs of fine arts faculties that accept students only with special talent exams in the main art and departments of the institutes, provided that they are documented with a health certificate obtained from the State hospital or State university hospital;

 

  • Candidates with hearing impairment who have an uncorrected disability of at least 70% or a corrected disability of at least 40% or more,

Candidates with mental retardation with a disability level of 50% and above,

Foreign language scores are not required for disabled candidates with a disability level of 40% or more (Autism spectrum disorder/childhood autism/atypical autism, Rett Syndrome, Asperger Syndrome) to apply. These candidates are deemed to have met the foreign language base score requirement sought by the University as a foreign language score.

 

  • Applicants to the proficiency in art program with a bachelor’s degree must have an undergraduate graduation grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 or an equivalent score.

 

  • In the case that the number of prospective students exceeds the program quota, a commission consisting of at least three main and two substitute faculty members is established by the Institute Administrative Board with the recommendation of the head of the department to evaluate the prospective students. Candidates are evaluated with their the graduation grade, interview/talent exam score, portfolio valuation score, foreign language exam score regarding the undergraduate diploma. The GPA is calculated as 10%, interview/talent evaluation exam is 40%, portfolio valuation is 30%, foreign language exam score is 20%.

 

  • Not having been dismissed from any undergraduate or postgraduate program due to previous disciplinary action.

Admission Requirements for the Doctoral Program in Psychology

  • Applications for the PhD Program in Psychology will be made between 10 June- 19 July 2024 . The Science Exam will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11.00 o’clock at Cevizlibağ Campus. It is important that the candidates who will participate in the Science Exam are present on the campus 45 minutes in advance. The results will be announced on the Institute’s website on July 26, 2024 .

  • To graduate from a 4-year undergraduate program,
  • To be a graduate of a master’s program with a thesis in psychology or one of its sub-branches,

 

  • To get at least 55 points from the ALES Exam (Equally Weighted score type),

Psychology Doctoral Program Evaluation Criteria

  • Every candidate who meets the maximum requirements for the Doctoral Program in Psychology will take the science exam.

 

  • The final scores of the candidates will be determined by adding 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the science exam result, 30% of the master’s degree GPA. According to the final score ranking, the first 15 people will be entitled to final registration for the Psychology Doctoral Program. Candidates on the substitute list will be invited to the registration instead of those who have not registered from the principal list.

Application Requirements for Clinical Psychology Master's Degree Programs with/without Thesis

  • Applications for Clinical Psychology Master’s Degree Programs with/without Thesis will be made between 10 June-19 July 2024. The results will be announced on the Institute’s website on July 26, 2024.

 

  • To graduate from Psychology or Psychological Counseling and Guidance (PDR) undergraduate program,

 

  • Obtaining at least 55 points from the ALES(Equally Weighted score type) or having an equivalent score accepted as equivalent to ALES and announced by the Council of Higher Education (GRE-GMAT),

 

  • ALES score requirement is not required for those who apply to the Non-Thesis Master’s Degree Program.

 

  • Since the language of instruction of the programs is Turkish, no foreign language requirement is required.
  • Those who apply to the Master’s Degree Program with Thesis can also apply to the Non-Thesis Master’s Degree Program

Application Requirements for Clinical Psychology Master's Degree Programs with/without Thesis

  • According to the final score ranking, the first 15 people will be entitled to final registration. Candidates on the substitute list will be invited to the registration instead of those who have not registered from the principal list.

 

The final score of each candidate who meets the maximum conditions for the Clinical Psychology Non-Thesis Master’s Program is determined by taking 100% of the undergraduate GPA. According to the final score ranking, the first 30 people will be entitled to final registration. Candidates on the reserve list will be invited to the registration instead of those who have not registered from the principal list.

Application Requirements for Psychology Master's Degree Programs with/without Thesis

  • Graduating from the Psychology or Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduate program, 

    Two-term Scientific Preparation Program is applied to those who have not graduated from the Psychology or Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduate program. Scientific Preparation Program’s courses are given at the Tepekent Campus of our university.

 

  • Obtaining at least 55 points from the ALES (Equally Weighted score type) or having an equivalent score accepted as equivalent to ALES and announced by the Council of Higher Education (GRE-GMAT),

 

  • ALES score requirement is not required for those who apply to the Non-Thesis Master’s Degree Program.

 

  • Since the language of instruction of the programs is Turkish, no foreign language requirement is required.

Candidates on the substitute list will be invited to the registration instead of those who have not registered from the principal list.

 

  • The final score of each candidate who meets the maximum conditions for the Psychology Non-Thesis Master’s Program is determined by taking 100% of the undergraduate GPA. According to the final score ranking, the first 30 people will be entitled to final registration. Candidates on the substitute list will be invited to the registration instead of those who have not registered from the principal list.
