Internship Practice

In addition to the theoretical and practical courses in our department’s curriculum, compulsory internships are also carried out in order to reinforce the program outcomes, professional knowledge and application skills that we aim to provide to our students, to recognize career opportunities related to molecular biology and genetics, to gain experience, and to help them make better career decisions after graduation.

In our department, internship practice is carried out within the scope of the “Framework Regulation on Applied Trainings in Universities” and our university’s “Applied Trainings Directive”, 4 days a week for 20 days, during holiday periods, at home and abroad, according to the student’s preference. In addition, within the scope of ERASMUS+ student mobility, our students can carry out their internships at universities or companies abroad.

Our students present their internship with a poster presentation at an event attended by all department professors and students, as well as other interested stakeholders, on a date determined by the department. The Departmental Internship Commission evaluates the poster presentation and the internship file in line with the criteria determined by the departmental board and decides whether to accept, correct or reject the internship. The Department Internship Committee evaluates internships according to the criteria of internship file (20%), poster (30%) and poster presentation (50%). According to these criteria, students who get at least 60 points out of a hundred from the course are considered successful in the internship, and the grade of the internship course on the student’s transcript is stated as “Pass” or “Fail” in accordance with the legislation.
