Message From Dean

Dear Students,

Our Faculty of Fine Arts has been added to the education chain of Kemal Gözükara Education and Culture Foundation, which has determined to provide a quality, professional and superior university education as its most important future goal, within the scope of Arel University in the 2008 – 2009 academic year. Our faculty, which meets the needs of both the graphic and fashion and textile sectors, based on a creative idea with its versatile program, has aimed at a student-centered education to raise sensitive, tolerant and enthusiastic young minds that do not ignore modernity, innovation and originality.

In line with this goal, constructivism has adopted the principle of education by providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to present creative and original suggestions.

Since art has an essence and quality that extends to our inner values, determining and teaching its boundaries that include these features will enable ideal education programs that will meet the needs of the current time dimension, and will carry out these programs. Hence, it is directly related to the development of experienced staff.

Raising individuals who comprehend art and design education, who have the ability to think and critical consciousness, who examine every problem in the light of his mind and produces solutions, who research, ask questions and seek answers, is aware that active learning is not limited to school, and will contribute to the development of the culture and art environment of the country, is our main goal.

Based on this idea, we believe that our students, who set out with the experienced education staff of our country and have the task of creating the ideal conditions for contemporary art and design education, should continue their art and design studies by learning the main principles of art that have gained an unchanging quality. We are determined to maintain our understanding of contemporary education by taking into account the ever-changing national and international dynamics.

In the structuring of our faculty, it was aimed to provide art and design education under two undergraduate programs, namely Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile Design. Currently, there is a Department of Cartoon and Film Animation and a Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts in our faculty. In the very near future, we plan to open new undergraduate and graduate programs to meet the needs, to the extent that the cyclical structure of our country foresees, and to make the Kemal Gözükara and Sefaköy campuses the centers of culture and art.

Our Faculty offers Graphic Design undergraduate education, Master’s and Proficiency in Art; Fashion and Textile Design undergraduate education with the Master’s Program.

The language of instruction of our faculty, which does not have a Preparatory Program, is Turkish. However, it should not be forgotten that in the current century, foreign language is a significant condition of art and design education. Being aware of this, our programs are carried out with a foreign language supported system.

Our students have the opportunity to earn a certificate or a second diploma by doing a minor and/or double major outside the department they have chosen.
