İstanbul Arel University Faculty of Fine Arts was established in the 2008-2009 academic year and began its activities within the Tepekent Kemal Gözükara Campus. The Graphic Design Department and the Fashion and Textile Design Department were the first two departments established within the Faculty of Fine Arts.
The Faculty of Fine Arts’ goal of operating in different fields of art gained momentum in 2020 with the addition of three new departments: Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Cartoon and Animation and Digital Game Design. From its establishment until the 2021-2022 academic year, our faculty admitted students through a special talent exam. However, starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, all departments have been admitting students based on central placement scores. “Digital Game Design Department” has not yet accepted students. The length of undergraduate education in our faculty, except the voluntary one year preparation school, is 4 years across all departments.
Fields in which practical education is given under our faculty expands every year. The faculty continues its activities with one basic art studio, one drawing studio, one printmaking studio, one main kitchen, one bakery practice kitchen, one photography studio, one darkroom, one animation workshop, two sewing workshops, two computer labs, one art gallery, and one exhibition area.
In addition to the dormitory facilities offered at Arel Student Housing, students have access to various sports facilities at the Kemal Gözükara Campus Sports Center, including a semi-Olympic swimming pool, fitness center, aerobics studio, indoor basketball and volleyball courts, table tennis areas, and other sports amenities.
İstanbul Arel University Faculty of Fine Arts continued its development by adding the Graphic Design Master’s program (with and without thesis) and the Graphic Design Proficiency in Art program in the 2011-2012 academic year under the Graphic Design major. In the 2012-2013 fall semester, it also introduced the Fashion and Textile Design Master’s program. The Master’s and Proficiency in Arts programs continue to be offered under the Institute of Social Sciences.
