I am Ayşe Pelin Tan, a third-year Industrial Engineering student. I completed my Erasmus study mobility at the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain, during the spring semester of my second year. To qualify for the Erasmus mobility program, I first took the required exams set by my university and successfully completed the process, earning a place on the main list. In the next phase, I contacted the partner universities selected by my university and reached out to the ones I found most suitable. After receiving a positive response from the University of Deusto, I completed the necessary procedures, including course equivalencies and the Learning Agreement, before heading to Bilbao.
During my time there, taking courses in a foreign country, meeting professors and peers from different cultural backgrounds, and getting to know them was an invaluable experience. Beyond academics, the opportunity to interact with people from diverse perspectives and worldviews was another significant gain. One of the greatest benefits, however, was the improvement in my language skills. Since I had to communicate in real-time, my ability to understand and speak spontaneously improved significantly.
Additionally, being abroad provided the advantage of easy travel, allowing me to visit different countries and cities. This gave me the chance to explore and experience many new places. I truly believe Erasmus is one of the most valuable experiences a student can have. It broadens perspectives and enhances adaptability to different cultures. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I strongly encourage all students who have the chance to take part in it.
